Indonesia Java International Destination – Central Java – Bengawan Solo River

Bengawan Solo River located in the Central Java region is one of the famous Indonesia Java International Destination. In the past this river served as a vital link between the north coast of East Java region and the Solo city. Due to this facility the river now functions as a flood controller, supplies water to farms, generates hydraulic power, used for drinking water and for fishery purposes. The statue of Gesang Martohartono in the central Javanese city of Solo is located in a place such that it overlooks the Bengawan Solor River. There is a popular song based on this river that describes the scenic beauty of this river and how the merchants in earlier days made use of this river. This region was once under the control of the Japanese.
